FCC relaxes review rules for 5G deployment

FCC

FCC ruled March 22 to relax rules on the national approval process for deploying the infrastructure to support 5G networks.

This action, which passed on a 3-2 party-line vote and does not need Congressional approval, exempts from review under the National Historic Preservation Act and National Environmental Policy Act. Opponents say that this move undermines transparency and environmental protections, and it takes away local control, which has allowed cities to push for more equitable deployment.
